DORSET LOGS & FIREWOOD
Seasoned versus Kiln Dried logs

Clean Air Strategy & Our Products

Firstly, we would like to thank you for supporting our business.

As you may be aware, progressive government legislation is being put into place to reduce atmospheric pollution. This has been driven by the Clean Air Strategy, which looks to tackle air pollution, making our air healthier to breathe, and thus protecting nature and improving the environment in which we live. We have taken substantial steps to support this goal by ensuring our timber is legally sourced, and that our logs are sufficiently dry to burn cleanly. We are now accredited by the Woodsure Ready to Burn scheme, having passed our audit with an average moisture content of 16.7%, well below the 20% benchmark.

We ensure that our legally and sustainably sourced timber is obtained from local woodlands in Dorset, and this helps finance local woodland management and increases biodiversity. The locality of this timber further reduces our carbon footprint.

We uphold the highest possible standards and produce a quality product all year round. To achieve this, we have had to put substantial investment into the business. We now have an efficient kiln drier that allows greater control of the drying process, ensuring the log you buy at the end of the season is a good as, the log you buy at the beginning. We are also investing in reducing our noise, CO2, and NOx emissions by converting our processes to all electric.

With increased regulation, driving this investment and increasing commodities prices we are going to have to increase our prices for next season.

We have carefully analysed our competitor’s prices and product quality and whilst many advertise similar load sizes and quality, we know we deliver a superior product at significantly greater volume to many of our competitors. You get what we advertise!

We appreciate you have a choice of firewood supplier, but we believe in-spite of the price increases we are still competitive whilst operating within the legislated guidelines and would be grateful for your continued support.
