DORSET LOGS & FIREWOOD
Seasoned versus Kiln Dried logs

Firewood and the law

Businesses selling firewood are now required by legislation to ensure that their product has been legally and sustainably sourced. This means that the timber has come from woodland that has a minimum of a felling licence agreed by the Forestry Commission.

Firewood, in both small retail bags and bulk loads, must have moisture content of less than 20% when sold. This must be accompanied by Woodsure’s Ready to Burn logo, giving you the confidence that your wood fuel has 20% moisture content or less.

Please note that your logs will reabsorb moisture if not stored correctly.

“Wet wood contains moisture which creates smoke and harmful particulates when burnt. As well as being harmful to your health and the environment, this can damage your stove and chimney and is an inefficient way to heat your home”
